An Fishing Expedition of A Lifetime: Catching 200 lbs. Tunas in Cabo San Lucas!

An Fishing Expedition of A Lifetime: Catching 200 lbs. Tunas in Cabo San Lucas!

With the temperatures getting warmer and the water temperature rising, it is prime season for tuna fishing in Cabo San Lucas in Mexico.

Cabo San Lucas is one of the best places to enjoy deep sea sport fishing. The waters here are filled with big game catches; anglers can flaunt prized catches such as Big Tuna, Marlin and Mahi Mahi to name a few.

These species, however, are difficult to find close to shore, and require you to go deep within the waters. This experience is heightened when you have a charter to take you all the way and show you the best spots, thus saving you the hassle of driving and searching for the fish yourself. Having the proper fishing essentials and gear is a must to catch big fish.

Big Tuna catching is a sport that requires skill, the best gear and expert handling. The size of these fish can easily overhaul you if not handled with care.

The big yellowfin tunas are in town!

Cabo fishing report April 24th 2018

On April 22, 2018 Captain Julian set out to target yellowfin tunas since our Tag Cabo Sportfishing team has been doing great with tunas that are around 25 to 100 pounds.
As he arrives to the fishing grounds, he sets up a kite with a jumming fish on it and begins his strategy at the bank to attract the tuna, when all of the sudden, a huge tuna bridges out of the water and devours the jumming right in front of our eyes.
We could not believe what we had just witnessed, by this time our deck hand grabs onto the rod while angler Valerie S. gets all set up on the fighting chair. Captain Julian tells the deck hand to reel in, I take a look at the reel and it’s screaming while the tuna runs taking plenty of line out with it. For a few minutes there, we were convinced that we were going to get spooled by the monster that was at the end of it all.
We all took turns fighting the monster for about three hours, finally getting it to the top of the water and gaffing it to victory.
