Cabo fishing report August 19th 2017.

And the bite hasn’t slowed down a bit !!  For the last three days, fish bite has been even better.

This last three days we caught so many dorados and small yellowfin tunas 3 miles of from the light house that our success rate has climbed all the way up to 99% on these two species.

We were catching blue and black marlin 7 miles off of the Cabo San Lucas arch, but it slowed down within that area. We started fishing a bit more out of the Punta Gorda bank, and it has been paying off with having landed over 150 pound yellowfin tunas along with black and blue marlin.

So the choice is all yours, you can ether get onboard a small fishing boat and fish close to the light house for a nice number of dorados and football size yellowfin tunas or, get on a bigger boat and run to Punta Gorda or, troll for small tunas on your way there so that by the time you get there, you can troll your football size tunas and hopefully land a record breaking marlin or a 200+ pound yellowfin tuna.

The weather is a bit humid during the day, but in the morning and into the evening, it has been cooling off to about 78 degrees. The wind is really cooperating with us since it’s 8kt right at the arch, 7kt at Punta Gorda, and 10kt on the Pacific ocean.

Sometimes we don’t have the opportunity or enough time to sit down and type up our fishing reports, but we will always manage to live broadcast off of our Tag Cabo sportfishing facebook fan page so that you can all see what is really happening out there on the water. We strongly recommend Anglers to follow our fan page to keep up with fishing reports in Cabo.

Make sure to subscribe to our Tag Cabo sportfishing you tube channel to watch our videos.

Also, if you are that kind of Angler looking forward to catch a rooster fish and check this off that bucket list of yours, you still have time to do so right now since we are catching them right in shore.

Cabo fishing report August 16th 2017.

Fishing in Cabo keeps getting better and better! Just when we thought it could’t get any better, we start catching fish in all of our local bancks.

Big game fish are even closer to shore. We have been fishing onboard smaller 20ft Pangas and 32ft fishing vessels with action right in front of the light house where we have been catching a lot of dorados and small yellowfin tunas every day.

We are also catching Stripped marlin, darado and small yellowfin tunas out of the golden gate bank. We recommend bigger boats to go out there since thats out on the pacific side and the wind has been picking up during the day.

Now, we have also been catching some big black and blue marlin 7 miles straight out from the famous arch. We can take you out their on our 32 footers unless you would like to be super comfortable, we always have bigger yachts to accommodate larger groups or anglers with expensive taste.

If you are an experienced Angler looking to get into one of the best sport fishing fights, then we highly recommend getting you all set up and taking you out into the gordo banks. This is where we have been catching many yellowfin tunas and they are all between 80 to 120 pounds, and even a few over 200 pounds here and there.

The weather is great as well, temperature in between low 80s and low 90s, and humidity is not as bad as it was a few weeks ago. The wind has been cooperating with us at 8kt in the Sea of Cortez and 11kt in on the Pacific side.

We strongly recommend you guys to follow our  Tag Cabo Sportfishing facebook fan page to keep up with our fishing reports and live broadcast fishing videos. If you would like to know more information please fill out our contact form.

Cabo fishing report

Cabo fishing report August 10th 2017

Yesterday we went out fishing onboard our 32ft Striper with Captain Jobe Villabicencio looking for a big blue or black marlin.

Our friend Carlos Gonzales from Fairfield, California came down to Cabo to have a great time with his wife and daughter. After having spent a few days of relaxing and spending quality time with the family, he came onboard with us in search of a monster big game fish!

With the mentality of any pro fishermen, we were looking forward to get a monster fish hook. So we started the day by heading into the local inshore bank were we caught a couple of small yellowfin tunas, a decent dorado, and a couple of bonitas. After that, we headed down towards San Jose del Cabo to the gordo banks, and because the water temperature is around 85 degrees around that area, along with having heard that other anglers were catching big black marlins around that area. So we get there, started trolling a few big lures along with dead bait all the way in the back. After about an hour we get a black marlin striking one of the lures a couple of times, and then vanished back into the ocean. It definitely got our blood pumping and exited to see action around the area were we decided to fish. About 15 minutes later, a small panga fishing around the same area as us got a black marlin hooked and fought that beast for around 30 minutes before the huge black marlin won the battle and got away. Right after that we get a fast and strong strike on one of our lures. We were all happy and hoping that it was a big black marlin, and after fighting it for like 10 minutes we got to see the color. To our surprise, it was a nice big 40 pound wahoo! We were all happy especially, our friend Carlos, since he has never caught a wahoo before and it was actually the biggest fish he has ever caught.

Our weather has gotten even better. The humidity has dropped, wind has been really strong on the pacific side, but the sea of Cortez it has been just like glass.

What we are catching the most is yellowfin tuna and dorado we are catching them 2 miles of from Santa Maria bay. Marlin and wahoo are here as well, but you would have to go out 25+ miles off of shore to find them.

Fishing is great right now down here in Cabo San Lucas. If you have been thinking of fishing down here, now is the time!

We are so fortunate year around down here in Cabo. Although being considered one of (if not THE best) place to fish in the world, that doesn’t necessarily mean fishing is always as great as it is right now. If you’re looking into booking your next fishing trip, Cabo is the place to be!

Cabo fishing reports August 8th 2017

This summer just keeps getting better and better down here in Cabo San Lucas, MX.

Last month was just great as we caught black marlins, wahoos, dorados, small yellowfin tunas, with some of them being well over 200 pounds, big rooster fish, sierras and a few sail fish.

This first week of August was just as great as last month, if not even better. We fished 5 days out of the 8 in different boats within our fleet and it was great every single day.

One of the days we went out looking for black and blue marlin around the San Jaime bank. We got to the bank around 8am, and as soon as we got there we began trolling a few big luhrs, two dredges and a dead bait way in the back. After about 25 minutes, we heard the shimano reel go off, we looked back and saw a big blue marlin jumping out of the water and instantly knew the fight was on. Since we saw the hook right on the side of its mouth, my good friend Chuck Baker got on the fighting chair and fought the blue marlin for about 20 minutes, once the marlin got right to the boat we unhooked and then released it without getting it out of the water. After that first catch, we started trolling again, but a friend of ours found a dead sea turtle floating about 20 miles from us and it had a huge school of dorados feeding, so we got all the lines out of the water and headed that way. We got to the spot and just like he said, there was a big school of dorados all around the dead turtle. We started trolling live bait, but they didn’t seem to be interested too much on it so we started chumming dead bait and that really set them off. The fight was back on! At the end of the day we caught 12 dorados, released 4 of them because they were too small, and we also released the blue marlin.

The other days were just as good, and have been catching a lot of yellowfin tunas by finding the dolphins, trolling cedar plugs and flying the kite with a rubber flying fish. We have been catching and releasing plenty of striped marlin by trolling lures, dredges and dead bait and within the same areas. This same strategy has been great for catching dorados too.

The weather has been great with our highest being around the 90s and low 80s and a bit humid, but once you are out on the ocean, the breeze feels so good you’ll want to stay all day out there.

The water temperature is 78 degrees in shore and 82 degrees off shore (degrees Fahrenheit)

The wind is about 4kt to 8kt that is actually really good for fishing.

To get a better understanding on our fishing reports we strongly recommend every body to follow us on our facebook fan page since we go live on some of our charters to help you guys see exactly what we are catching at the time we catch it.

Cabo fishing report July 26th 2017.

The weather has been great. A bit humid, but overall temperature-wise has steadily been around the 80s (℉)

Wind has been great around 5kt which makes the wakes nice and calm as well. The water temperature has been in the 70s (℉) in shore and 80s 5 miles off of shore.

With all this perfect fishing weather, all the big game fish such as blue, black and striped marlin have been closer to our shores and we are also catching plenty of small yellowfin tuna with a few over 100 pounds here and there. Dorados have been getting into our local banks as well in small numbers, but they are nice and big.
