Isla Cerralvo, as is commonly named, whose official name is Isla Jacques Cousteau, is an island located off the Cerralvo Canal coast near La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. It is 18 miles long with a land area of 136.498 square kilometres, and is the ninth-largest island in Mexico.

There are abundant golden grouper, marlin, sailfish, swordfish or broadbill, and other game fish in Cerralvo Canal waters. Views from island at dawn and sunset are very lively and filled with color.
Panga fishing is most popular around the Island. Now that summer is coming up, summertime is great to fish for big fish such as roosterfish , dorados and groupers.
The Island is right in front of El Sargento town which has become very well known for kite fishing as they frequently have very strong winds that attracts many kite surfers from around the world all year around.
So, if fishing is what you want, we strongly recommend checking out the wind conditions before planning a trip out there since all they offer at this Island are small pangas that are actually great when wind conditions are favorable.
