Fishing in Cabo keeps getting better and better! Just when we thought it could’t get any better, we start catching fish in all of our local bancks.
Big game fish are even closer to shore. We have been fishing onboard smaller 20ft Pangas and 32ft fishing vessels with action right in front of the light house where we have been catching a lot of dorados and small yellowfin tunas every day.
We are also catching Stripped marlin, darado and small yellowfin tunas out of the golden gate bank. We recommend bigger boats to go out there since thats out on the pacific side and the wind has been picking up during the day.
Now, we have also been catching some big black and blue marlin 7 miles straight out from the famous arch. We can take you out their on our 32 footers unless you would like to be super comfortable, we always have bigger yachts to accommodate larger groups or anglers with expensive taste.
If you are an experienced Angler looking to get into one of the best sport fishing fights, then we highly recommend getting you all set up and taking you out into the gordo banks. This is where we have been catching many yellowfin tunas and they are all between 80 to 120 pounds, and even a few over 200 pounds here and there.
The weather is great as well, temperature in between low 80s and low 90s, and humidity is not as bad as it was a few weeks ago. The wind has been cooperating with us at 8kt in the Sea of Cortez and 11kt in on the Pacific side.

Yesterday we went out fishing onboard our 32ft Striper with Captain Jobe Villabicencio looking for a big blue or black marlin.
Our friend Carlos Gonzales from Fairfield, California came down to Cabo to have a great time with his wife and daughter. After having spent a few days of relaxing and spending quality time with the family, he came onboard with us in search of a monster big game fish!
With the mentality of any pro fishermen, we were looking forward to get a monster fish hook. So we started the day by heading into the local inshore bank were we caught a couple of small yellowfin tunas, a decent dorado, and a couple of bonitas. After that, we headed down towards San Jose del Cabo to the gordo banks, and because the water temperature is around 85 degrees around that area, along with having heard that other anglers were catching big black marlins around that area. So we get there, started trolling a few big lures along with dead bait all the way in the back. After about an hour we get a black marlin striking one of the lures a couple of times, and then vanished back into the ocean. It definitely got our blood pumping and exited to see action around the area were we decided to fish. About 15 minutes later, a small panga fishing around the same area as us got a black marlin hooked and fought that beast for around 30 minutes before the huge black marlin won the battle and got away. Right after that we get a fast and strong strike on one of our lures. We were all happy and hoping that it was a big black marlin, and after fighting it for like 10 minutes we got to see the color. To our surprise, it was a nice big 40 pound wahoo! We were all happy especially, our friend Carlos, since he has never caught a wahoo before and it was actually the biggest fish he has ever caught.
Our weather has gotten even better. The humidity has dropped, wind has been really strong on the pacific side, but the sea of Cortez it has been just like glass.
What we are catching the most is yellowfin tuna and dorado we are catching them 2 miles of from Santa Maria bay. Marlin and wahoo are here as well, but you would have to go out 25+ miles off of shore to find them.
Fishing is great right now down here in Cabo San Lucas. If you have been thinking of fishing down here, now is the time!
We are so fortunate year around down here in Cabo. Although being considered one of (if not THE best) place to fish in the world, that doesn’t necessarily mean fishing is always as great as it is right now. If you’re looking into booking your next fishing trip, Cabo is the place to be!

The weather has been great. A bit humid, but overall temperature-wise has steadily been around the 80s (℉)
Wind has been great around 5kt which makes the wakes nice and calm as well. The water temperature has been in the 70s (℉) in shore and 80s 5 miles off of shore.
With all this perfect fishing weather, all the big game fish such as blue, black and striped marlin have been closer to our shores and we are also catching plenty of small yellowfin tuna with a few over 100 pounds here and there. Dorados have been getting into our local banks as well in small numbers, but they are nice and big.

Monster Black Marlin weighing in at a jaw dropping 448lbs was reeled in by semi pro woman Angler Valerie Sutton-Jackson this past Tuesday July 18, 2017 out of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico while on our way out to the East Cape. Captain Julian Liquidano Garcia, Captain Jobe Villavicencio, Captain Eduardo Liquidano, Valerie and Chuck Baker were set on an adventurous 3-day fishing trip when surprisingly coming across a patch of beautiful blue water, ideal for big game fish! Captain and crew decided to sew up a few bait, set out some teaser lines and troll a bit to see if anything would bite along this area before reaching their final destination. Surly enough just over 45min and we’re hooked on a Blue Marlin! We did not have a chance to weight this catch as we quickly released it after taking a few pictures, but it looked to be about 350lbs (will post pics soon) like 30 minutes after that a striped marlin started going off on one of the teasers so Jobe graved a live bait and cast it right next to the marlin, the marlin went right for it so it was on! Chuck started fighting that lit up marling to release it after about 15 minutes, like about 2 hours later Julian spotted another striped marlin on top of the water so he told Jobe and got the boat right to it, by that time Jobe was already on the vow with live bait on a hook so he cast it right to it and it was on again for Chuck he fought it for about 20 minutes to release it back in the Ocean, Not even 45 minutes later a pod of dolphins! Any and every angler’s eyes light up as they come across a nice pod of dolphins as this means big game fish along the area. Captain and crew brought on their best game in search for a trophy fish along this area, thats when they started catching yellowfin tunas, like about 3 at a time so by this time they were all saying to each other how great of a day was when they were not even close to the area they were supposed to go to. A few days back Valerie had mention about how great her fishing experience has been in Cabo and that the only trophy fish she need it to catch to finish her list was a black marlin so the crew told her we will get one for you soon Valerie as they were trolling their way to the East Cape, all of the sudden a huge black marlin starts hitting one of the teasers with it bill, Captain Jobe graved a live bait and cast it right next to the marlin as Captain Julian from the top was reeling in the teaser and thats when the huge black marlin eat the bait got hooked and the little lady Valerie reeled in this 448lbs Black Marlin trophy fish (featured above) using a Shimano 25 talica in just over 20min! A true accomplishment in the sportfishing industry. Filled with excitement, captain, crew and anglers decided to turn back to Cabo while having reached only 1/4 of their original fishing trip itinerary. Goes to show just how rich in fish and adventure our waters out here in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico can be.
This week we release plenty of striped marlin from around the 95 bank to the 1150, we also found a lot of dolphins around the same areas and with them lots of small yellowfin tunas and some dorados in small numbers but good size, we saw a couple of swordfish out there as well but didn’t get them to take our bait.
In shore fishing it’s still really good with rooster fish and sierras around el tule and Solmar.
The weather has been a bit humid and hot with winds in between 5 to 11kt so it feels really good fishing out there, So if you are heading down to Cabo San Lucas and you are a sport fishing person, you should really go fishing.
Now it’s a perfect time with high % of success every day.
