Sailfish

Predominantly blue and gray in color, sailfish are found in colder areas of the sea. The main characteristic of the sailfish is its elongated bill much like a swordfish.

Popularly known as billfish in sportfishing circles, they are easier to catch than others as they readily swim up to attack their prey.

Wahoo – Scombrid Fish

Most popularly known for its speed and high-quality meat, the Wahoo fish is a prize game fish amongst sports fishermen.

Hailing from the Scombridae fish family, it’s similar to mackerels, tuna, and bonito fish. It’s one of the fastest fish in the world with a speed of about 70 MPH.

Most believe that the name was derived from the first person who caught the fish and screamed “Wahoo!” since the fish is a fighter and swims at the speed of light when caught on the hook.

All jokes aside, this species is easily found, not far away from the land.

With an elongated body and blue and silvery scales with patterns of irregular bars, Wahoo is certainly a fish to catch and share with friends and family.

Cubera Snapper

Found mostly in the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, the Cubera Snapper prefers rocky substrates and inhibits areas with underwater reefs.

With the Cubera Snapper found few and far in between the Mexican Gulf, they’re quite the sought-after game fish by anglers in Cabo.
