With only four months left till the biggest marlin tournament held around the world, we thought it would be best to provide our readers with all the information they might need about the Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore.
Background
For the past 30 years, Bisbee’s tournaments in the Los Cabos region have made strides in sportfishing history, giving out some of the biggest payouts in the sport. The Los Cabos Offshore held annually in October originally started in 2002 as a lead-in to the much older and popular Black and Blue Tournament and as such this tournament is given the nickname “Little Bisbee’s”.
Early Bird Registration
Each Bisbee’s tournament has an early bird reward that is a free entry to the next year’s tournament. This reward has a higher change of being won the earlier a contestant pays for their entry.
This year the tournament will be held from October 18-21, 2018 and the last registration date for having a chance at the reward is August 31, 2018.
Schedule
Oct 18 – The tournament registration is followed by a meeting wherein the tournament rules for the year are explained. At least one member from each time must participate in this meeting. This is followed up by a party to start off the tournament.
Oct 19-20 – Both days are fishing days starting at 8 in the morning and lasting till 5 in the evening. The weighing station is open during these days from 3 to 9 at night.
Oct 21 – Awards ceremony is held. Only tournament participants are allowed to attend.
Registration Information
Registration can be done at anytime up till the start of the tournament on October 18. However, there are earlier deadlines for certain modes of payment: October 16 for wire transfers, and October 12 for check payments. The early bird last date of August 31 is also the last date a registrant can withdraw from the tournament and be issued a full refund.
Rules
The tournament’s general and angling/equipment rules are updated each year and current rulings are discussed in the meeting held on the first day of the tournament. Since the rules can be changed between now and the tournament they will not be discussed in detail here.
Fees
The basic entry into the tournament costs $1500 with entry in all optional competitions combined bringing the cost up to $12500. Prizes are awarded to individual participants and teams for marlin as well as other game-fish such as Tuna and Dorado.
